Ramsay High School Theatre Arts students 2017

The theatre curriculum plays an important role in students' overall academic success. Lessons are designed to encourage use of imagination, critical and cognitive thinking, and physical activity. Cooperative groups and leadership opportunities help students gain proficient time management skills and problem solving strategies as well as social consciousness and self awareness. Students become well-rounded, college ready and employable.

Theatre I

This course is an Introduction to the world of theatre as an art form. Students build skills to make life connections and become productive, well-rounded individuals. The curriculum content is consistent with the Alabama Course of Study for Theatre and consists of artistic, technical and historical information that will provide insight into the basic techniques of acting, stage performance and productions. Through the curriculum, students will learn the fundamentals of how theatre works and a gain an appreciation for the art form, learn theatre industry standards and theatre's contribution to society.

Theatre II/III

This course is a continuation of Theatre I and is based on the Alabama State Standards for Theatre Arts. Course content consists of rigorous acting exercises, play writing, technical theatre and mounting productions.

It is my professional duty to maintain a safe, nurturing, and creative environment conducive for learning.

Singing & Dance
Dance I/II/III

This course is required for students who desire to become proficient in musical theatre. The course content consists of ballet, jazz, African, modern, hip hop and choreography. It is essential in helping students to ave a well-rounded theatre education experience.
